One tip: if you say your meta-goal out loud (or jot it down) before you start an interaction, you’re more likely to consistently create the outcome you seek, not the one you hyperventilate yourself into.

I don’t dream at night, I dream all day; I dream for a living.

This is what I aspire to every day. I think the world would be a better (and happier) place if everyone could use their imagination in their work.

Great advice for new graduates and those in the beginning stages of their career. It’s so refreshing to hear a new way of thinking about career trajectory (think ‘jungle gym’ not ‘ladder’), transparency, work-life balance and equality in the workplace.

In spite of recent Facebook controversy, Sheryl Sandberg remains an inspiration for women in business.

Some of my favourite quotes…

"Build your skills not your resume"

"Your strength will not come from your place on some org chart. Your strength will come from building trust and earning respect.”

"You’re going to need talent and skill and imagination and vision. But more than anything else, you’re going to need the ability to communicate authentically. To speak so that you inspire the people around you and to listen so that you continue to learn each and every day on the job.”

"I don’t believe we have a professional self from Mondays through Fridays and a real self for the rest of the time. That kind of division probably never worked but in today’s world of real voice and authentic voice, it makes even less sense. It is all professional and it is all personal - all at the same time.”

"We need to acknowledge, openly, that gender remains an issue at the highest levels of leadership. The promise of equality is not equality.”

"We need to start talking openly about the flexibility all of us need to have both a job and a life.”
